"Clinical course and predictors of the risk of ventilation-associated tracheobronchitis"

Ventilator-associated infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract are one of the most commoncomplications of prolonged mechanical ventilation in intensive care units. There is an urgent need to reacha consensus in the diagnosis of ventilator-associated tracheobronchitis. The manuscript provides a reviewof the diagnostic criteria and risk factors for the development of ventilator-associated tracheobronchitis,which are analyzed in order to optimize the methods of intensive care for patients on prolonged mechanical ventilation.
