The criterion for cleaning alfalfa seeds from mustard grass using the marginal charge method

Based on the brief analysis of existing seed-cleaning machines and cleaning methods it was decided to use the effect of the difference in their orientation in the electric field to improvement of quality of alfalfa seeds cleaning from mustard. Considering the balance of forces acting on seeds of spherical and ellipsoidal shapes and using the basic laws of the electrostatic field, an expression for the criterion of their separation by the method of the limiting seed charge obtained by the contact method was obtained. It is established that, depending on the shape of the hit of seeds in one or another fraction, the value of the starting field strength, when the seed is detached from the lower potential electrode, remains a determining parameter.
