The article provides a diagram and principle of operation of a modernized cotton gin. Based on the theoretical impact interaction of pure cotton with a flat horizontal density of a multi-sided grate in the cleaning zones of raw cotton in a cotton gin. Graphical dependencies of the parameters are built. Formulas are obtained for calculating the values of the velocities of the parts of cotton and the weed impurities separated from it after their impact interaction with a multifaceted grate. The parameters of the grate in all three cleaning zones of the unit are substantiated.
