Abstract Today, new innovative technologies are widely used in all fields. The energy sector is certainly not an exception, especially in matters of efficient storage and use of electricity. There are many scientific developments in this field. Some of them are at the stage of theoretical development, while others are already in the form of working prototypes. Energy storage technologies store the excess power that occurs in the system when the consumption of electricity is at a minimum, and transmits the stored electricity to the system in the modes of maximum consumption. These technologies not only ensure the continuity of electricity, but also guarantee the energy security of the system. It can quickly provide the system with the necessary power even in various emergency situations that may occur at power stations. It also allows to adjust generation schedules of electricity produced by renewable energy sources that change dramatically due to weather. Energy storage systems are also useful for consumers - through them it will be possible to maintain stable electricity prices within the general network or to ensure individual flexibility and independence of consumption in households.
