Annotatsiya
Relevance. Keratoconus is a chronically progressive disease characterized by thinning and ectasia (protrusion) of the cornea, which leads to a significant decrease in visual function and deterioration in the quality of life of patients. Purpose of the study. To conduct a comparative evaluation of the clinical and functional parameters in patients with keratoconus using rigid gas-permeable contact lenses (RGPCL) and scleral lenses. Materials and methods. The study included 30 patients aged 18 to 45 years diagnosed with keratoconus. Results and conclusion. The results of this study demonstrated that at stages I–III of keratoconus, contact lenses are effective in correcting visual acuity. The obtained data indicate that vision correction with contact lenses significantly improves visual quality. These findings show that the use of contact lenses contributes to the social rehabilitation of patients with keratoconus and allows for the correction of irregular astigmatism.
