Screening of some indigenous plants for antibacterial properties
Annotatsiya
In this study, the antibacterial activity of approximately twenty local plant species was examined. The results showed that Piper nigrum, Coriandrum, Allium sativum, Salvadora persica, Allium spp., Salvia, Taraxacum officinale, Lycopus virginicus, and Cichorium intybus L. exhibited notable antibacterial effects. The inhibition zones of these plant extracts ranged from 13 to 20 mm, indicating moderate to strong antibacterial activity. These findings suggest that certain plant extracts have potential as natural antibacterial agents and could be further explored for use in the development of herbal-based antimicrobial drugs, offering an alternative to synthetic pharmaceuticals.
