The article is devoted to the analysis of archetypal elements in Shukur Kholmirzaev's story “It Was a Long Time Ago”, which reveals such eternal themes as the relationship between generations and the value of human life. The author explores the connection of the plot and characters with universal mythological motifs (the custom of leaving old people in Belarusian and Latvian legends) and the theory of archetypes by C. Jung.
