Sentiment Analysis of Uzbek Idioms

This article contains the results of a deep scientific study based on the rules and statistical methods of sentiment analysis of idioms in the Uzbek language. The main sources of this study were "O‘zbek tilining izohli lug‘ati" (Explanatory Dictionary of the Uzbek Language) and the electronic educational corpus uzschoolcorpara.uz, and during the study, a total of 3305 Uzbek idioms identified based on dictionaries and 3704 based on the corpus were divided into positive, negative and neutral categories in terms of sentiment. The emotionaltonal, artistic coloring properties and linguocultural content of each phrase were systematically analyzed. The study also paid special attention to the semantic variability and connotative scope of idioms in the context. It was proven that some idioms, although generally negative or positive, can be used in a contextual situation in a meaning that is the opposite of their own. The article reveals the role of deep sentiment analysis of Uzbek idioms, its practical significance in translation, automatic language analysis, and language teaching.
