The Role of Remote Jobs in Post-COVID-19 Economic Recovery

This article explores the contribution of remote work to economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic based on the experience of the United States and Uzbekistan for the period 2019-2024. For analysis, over 15 research papers and reports were assessed along with data from BLS, World Bank, ILO, and national statistics. Case studies of adaptation of the workforce and development of digital infrastructure were analyzed to determine how remote work influenced post-pandemic recovery. The study finds that although both countries were severely damaged, the U.S. used widespread remote work to speed up recovery, while Uzbekistan had issues with digital preparedness and workforce adaptation. The article concludes that remote work increases economic resilience and provides insights for developing economies to enhance inclusive recovery strategies.
