In the article considers the concept of “entrepreneurial university” as a necessaryelement of modernisation of the higher education system in the conditions of economictransformation and integration into the global space. The active support of innovations at the statelevel, defined in strategic documents, is emphasised. The introduction of the concept requires acomprehensive approach, changes in organisational culture and adaptation to the specifics of theRepublic of Uzbekistan. The relevance of the study is conditioned by the need to improve thecompetitiveness of higher education institutions, increase their contribution to the innovationeconomy and solve socio-economic problems of the country. SWOT-analysis comprehensivelyassesses the factors influencing the introduction of the concept of “entrepreneurial university” inthe system of higher education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and helps to identify priority areasfor the development of higher education institutions in modern.
