Annotatsiya

Efficient fiber removal in the cotton ginning process is critical not only for maintaining lint quality but also for ensuring operational safety and energy efficiency. This study focuses on the mechanical and maintenance-related factors influencing doffing performance in saw-type gins. Bent or damaged saw teeth inhibit effective lint removal and must be routinely straightened or replaced. Accumulated lint at the base of gin ribs, if not properly doffed, poses a significant fire hazard due to frictional heat generated by rotating saws. Proper engagement of the doffing brush with the full depth of the saw teeth is essential for effective lint clearance and for generating adequate air velocity to prevent fiber backlash. Brush performance depends on correct belt tension and the condition of the bristles, which require periodic inspection and replacement. Furthermore, worn or unbalanced brushes increase vibration and bearing wear, leading to energy losses and mechanical degradation. When field rebalancing is not feasible, brushes should be returned to the manufacturer for servicing. These findings highlight the importance of regular mechanical maintenance to improve energy efficiency, reduce fire risk, and enhance the sustainability of the ginning process.
