The title complex, [Co(C 8 H 5 N 2 O 2 ) 2 (C 7 H 6 N 2 ) 2 ], crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2 1 /c with one-half of the molecule in the asymmetric unit. The Co 2+ ion exhibits a distorted octahedral environment formed by two monodentate benzimidazole ligands and two bidentate benzimidazole-2-carboxylate ligands. The crystal packing features N—H...O hydrogen bonds and C—H...π contacts, which generate a chain along [011]. Hirshfeld surface analysis shows that H...C/C...H (36.2%) and H...H (35.3%) contacts dominate the intermolecular interactions, followed by O...H/H...O and N...H/H...N contributions.
