Theoretical Analysis of Patterns of Change in Cutting Force During Drilling of Soil

The paper considers the process of soil destruction during drilling. Special attention is paid to the influence of the chisel base on the distribution of resistance forces. The main components of the forces acting on the cutters and the wear pad are determined. It is shown that hydrostatic pressure and rotational movement of the cutters significantly affect the amount of cutting force. It is established that both cutting forces and indentation resistance must be taken into account in the calculations. The results of the study can be used to improve the design of drilling tools and improve drilling efficiency
