HISTORICAL ROOTS OF SCIENTIFIC MUSEUMS (XVIII–XIX centuries)

This scientific article examines the process of formation of scientific museums in theXVIII–XIX centuries, their role in socio-cultural development, as well as the influence of theEnlightenment, scientific societies and expeditions on the development of museology. In the course of theresearch, historical sources and comparative analysis methods were used. As a result, it was found that theformation of scientific museums was due to the increasing importance of science in society, the need topreserve scientific heritage and the development of the education system.
