Annotatsiya
The issue of raising the prestige of the teaching profession was considered from the position of legal eligibility, from the position of state policy in the sphere of education, and from the value of pedagogical activity itself. At the same time, the study of the status of a teacher through the prism of the perception of the image and role of a teacher by the younger generation is considered for the first time. The purpose of this study is to analyze the statements of young people regarding the state initiative to improve the status of teachers through legislative measures. The study was conducted on the basis of grounded theory and content analysis. As a result of the research, 5 categories were identified that define the general semantic representations of the respondents: “Society’s expectations in relation to the profession of teacher”; “Value of teacher's activity for society”; “Teachers’ needs in improving psychological competence”; “Teacher’s responsibility for lack of self-respect”; “Effectiveness of law adoption”.The analysis of the text data array showed that respondents are unsure of the effectiveness of raising the teacher’s status only through legislative measures. Respondents see one way to solve the problem of the low status of the teacher in increasing his psychological competence. The results obtained can serve as a basis for developing a program of psychological support and supervision for teachers.
