Reflection of Anthropomorphic (Somatic) And Numerical Linguocultural Codes in The Concept of Quantity in The Uzbek Language

Although the concept of quantity is universal, its linguistic expression is closely tied to culture. This article examines how quantity is conceptualized in the Uzbek language through two types of linguocultural codes – anthropomorphic (somatic) and numerical. Based on phraseological units, it is revealed that body‑based measures (e.g., bir hovuch ‘a handful’, bir qadam ‘a step’) as well as culturally significant numbers (3, 7, 40, 1001) encode quantity not only in numerical terms but also with qualitative meanings such as smallness, completeness, sacredness, and traditionality. These analyzed codes reflect the bodily experience and worldview of Uzbek speakers. The findings contribute to cross‑cultural research on the concept of quantity and demonstrate the interaction of language, culture, and thought in Uzbek.
