COPD is often associated with cardiovascular diseases, including pulmonary and arterial hypertension, which contributes to a worse prognosis and the progression of cardiorespiratory impairment. Pulmonary hypertension, associated with lung disease and hypoxia, is one of the most common forms of secondary pulmonary hypertension following left heart disease.
