Repressed Jadids' Reforms in The Education System and Their Historical Significance
Annotatsiya
This article examines the educational reforms implemented by the Jadids in Turkestan at the beginning of the twentieth century and analyzes their historical significance. The study aims to evaluate the role of Jadid intellectuals in transforming the traditional education system through modern pedagogical approaches and to assess the impact of Soviet political repression on these reforms. The research is based on historical-comparative and analytical methods, using scholarly literature, archival materials, and works of Jadid representatives. The findings demonstrate that Jadid reformers introduced “Usuli Jadid” schools, modern textbooks, and secular sciences, thereby contributing significantly to national awakening and intellectual modernization. However, the Soviet repressions of the 1930s interrupted these reforms and led to the persecution of many Jadid intellectuals. The study concludes that the educational and spiritual heritage of the Jadids remains an important foundation for contemporary educational reforms and the idea of the “Third Renaissance” in modern Uzbekistan.
