Annotatsiya

Lycium barbarum is recognized as a valuable medicinal shrub with significant ecological and adaptive properties, attracting increasing scientific attention due to its resilience and nutritional importance. This research focuses on evaluating the seed germination behavior, early growth dynamics, and biological performance of L. barbarum under laboratory, indoor, and field conditions in the arid environment of Navoi Region, Uzbekistan. Experimental studies were carried out to assess seed viability and germination efficiency under controlled laboratory settings, as well as under variable indoor and field conditions that reflect natural climatic stress factors such as temperature fluctuation, limited soil moisture, and salinity influence. The findings revealed that seed germination was most stable and consistent under laboratory conditions, whereas environmental variability significantly affected germination rate and seedling development in non-controlled settings. Despite these challenges, the species demonstrated a strong adaptive response, showing gradual acclimatization and sustainable growth under field conditions. Its tolerance to drought stress and ability to survive in semi-arid soil conditions indicate its ecological plasticity and suitability for arid land cultivation. Furthermore, the study highlights the ecological significance of L. barbarum in biodiversity conservation. The species contributes to soil stabilization, ecological restoration of degraded lands, and enhancement of vegetative cover in dryland ecosystems of Navoi Region. These properties suggest its potential application in sustainable landscaping and environmental rehabilitation programs in Uzbekistan.
