ABI

Annotatsiya

The purpose of this study is to comparatively analyze the semantic features of national clothing terminology in the Uzbek and Karakalpak languages from linguistic and linguocultural perspectives. The research employs descriptive, comparative-analytical, linguocultural, and semantic analysis methods. The findings show that national clothing terms can be semantically classified into several groups, including headwear, outerwear, decorative elements, and terms related to sewing processes. The analysis demonstrates that a substantial part of these lexical units has Common Turkic roots, while some terms have developed in accordance with the specific socio-cultural environment of each people. In addition, it was established that clothing names possess not only nominative meaning but also symbolic and ceremonial semantics. The study concludes that national clothing terminology constitutes an important set of linguocultural units reflecting the historical development, cultural values, and social structure of the Uzbek and Karakalpak peoples.
