The article provides an analysis of the role of the social and cultural environment in the formation of acmeological thinking and the main scientific research conducted in this area. The acmeological approach studies the mechanisms of achieving the highest peaks ("acme") in the professional and personal development of the subject as a socio-cultural system. During the analysis, the theoretical foundations of traditional and modern acmeological schools were compared.
