DEGREE OF CRYSTALLINITY OF RICE-DERIVED CELLULOSE WITH VARIOUS STRUCTURAL FORMS

ABI

Annotatsiya

The aim of this study is to isolate cellulose from rice straw, synthesize microcrystalline cellulose and cellulose aerogel, and investigate their structural properties. Infrared (IR) spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction methods were employed for analysis. The IR spectra confirmed the preservation of characteristic functional groups of cellulose in all samples. The degree of crystallinity was calculated using the Segal method and was found to be 0.84 for rice cellulose, 1.048 for microcrystalline cellulose, and 1.714 for the aerogel. The results indicate an increase in crystallinity during cellulose processing, reflecting enhanced structural ordering of the material. These findings demonstrate the potential of rice straw as a promising raw material for producing advanced cellulose-based materials and support their application in paper production and composite material industries.
