Blockchain-Enabled Audit Trails for Transparency

This chapter examines blockchain technology's transformative role in establishing immutable audit trails within supply chain management. Through distributed ledger architecture, organizations achieve unprecedented transparency and traceability, addressing critical challenges in compliance, sustainability verification, and stakeholder trust. The chapter synthesizes recent scholarly developments in blockchain-enabled supply chain auditing, analyzes implementation frameworks across multiple industries, and evaluates both benefits and barriers to adoption. Findings demonstrate that blockchain-based audit trails significantly enhance data integrity, reduce information asymmetry, and facilitate real-time verification of transactions and custody transfers.
