The This article provides a vector diagram of a synchronous compensator with longitudinal-transverse excitation in the mode of deep consumption of reactive power, in addition, the calculation of the U-shaped characteristics and reactive power of the synchronous compensator is given. For the calculation, saturation is taken into account in modern methods for constructing the U-shaped characteristics of synchronous compensators at different loads is carried out graphically using the idle characteristic and Potier or Blondel vector diagrams. This method gives acceptable accuracy for the region of positive excitation, in which the magnetic field does not change significantly. On the basis of the U-shaped characteristic, a simple method is proposed for calculating the reactive power of a synchronous compensator with longitudinal-transverse excitation, which eliminates the need to use a complex formula expressed in terms of the electromagnetic parameters xd and xq , which do not remain constant during excitation control.
