Mossbauer spectroscopic study of the hexagonal B-ferrite Ba0.45K0.39Fe11O17 has been undertaken between 10 K and 743 K. Below the magnetic transition temperature (TN=713+or-5 K) six magnetically split Fe3+ components can be fitted to our experimental spectra. The broadening of the Fe(1) component is explained by three magnetically nonequivalent Fe(1) ions. The presence of Fe2+ could not be detected by the present study. A conduction electron picture is proposed to explain the results.
