We measured the ${}^{7}\mathrm{Be}(p,\ensuremath{\gamma}{)}^{8}\mathrm{B}$ cross section from ${\overline{E}}_{\mathrm{c}.\mathrm{m}.}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}186$ to 1200 keV, with a statistical-plus-systematic precision per point of better than $\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}5%$. All important systematic errors were measured including ${}^{8}\mathrm{B}$ backscattering losses. We obtain ${S}_{17}(0)\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}22.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.7(\mathrm{expt})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.5(\mathrm{theor})\mathrm{eV}\mathrm{b}$ from our data at ${\overline{E}}_{\mathrm{c}.\mathrm{m}.}\ensuremath{\le}300\mathrm{keV}$ and the theory of Descouvemont and Baye.
