Fabry-Perot scans of H-alpha, forbidden N II at 6584 A, and forbidden O III at 5007 A were made in the direction of a 3.5-deg-diameter, arc-shaped emission region which appears to contain the stellar associations CMa OB1 and CMa R1, a site of very recent star formation. These observations suggest that much of the ionized gas is confined to an expanding shell which has a diameter of about 68 pc and an expansion velocity of about 13 km/s. The shell appears to be heated and ionized by ultraviolet radiation from two O stars within CMa OB1. While this shell may have been produced by a supernova, models involving strong stellar winds or an evolving H II region are not ruled out.
