In the global growth of growing environmental concerns and energy requirements, sustainable energy source is crucial. The moderator-intuitionistic-fuzzy-set (MIFS) theory, which is one of the extension and broader version of intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs). This MIFS theory offerings an improved way to deal with uncertainty due the inclusion of moderator parameter. Classifying renewable energy sources is crucial to their sustainability. Thus, to classify RESs, firstly the Moderator Intuitionistic Fuzzy Hybrid Averaging Operator (MIFHAO) is proposed. Secondly, then it is used to identify RESs for the sustainability of energy sources. The suggested model for evaluating and categorizing RESs in the context of MIFS seems to be good. The same RES is identified when the analysis is carried out with considering some existing methods, which results the verification of the presented approach. This hybrid categorization system promotes sustainable energy policies and efficient energy landscape.
