Nonlinear Elastic-plastic Model OfSoil-structure Interaction In Time Domain

Linear analysis of soil-structure interaction for dynamic excitation is established for frequency domain [34] and for time domain [5,35] employing some kind of substructure techniques. Nonlinear analysis in time domain take into account nonlinear elastic-plastic material of soil [4,11] near the structure foundation and linear material properties beyond that area. In the finite element method special types of boundary condition on a surface between the finite interior and infinite exterior domain are used. In the development to follow, we consider the motion of a general body in a stationary co-ordinate system with small strains and nonlinear material response [2]. Figure 1 gives an illustration of the numerical models for cases 2D and 3D . The paper is based on previous works of the author [36,38].
