Effect of scattering processes on the spectra of electrons emitted from the surface of solids: Monte Carlo calculations

Abstract Electron scatterings in the volume and at the surface of a solid are simulated by the Monte Carlo method. The effect on the electron distributions is demonstrated in some typical cases: aluminium, copper and gold covered with a carbonaceous layer.
