Zn1 xCuxO thin films are prepared from inexpensive sol-gel dip coating technique using PVA as a polymer precursor. The concentration on the films x varies from 0.02 to 1 insteps of 0.02. The effect of doping concentration and annealing temperature on the structural and optical properties are thoroughly studied. It has been observed that all the films have a tensile stress and the grain size changes with the growth parameters. The band gap of the films decreases considerably with increase in dopant concentration and annealing temperature. The films shows UV and blue emission,mechanisms behind which are explained in detail.
