The role of the convective factor in radiation drying

The results of research on the design of steam removal systems for radiation drying are described. It is proved that labyrinth and ejector systems are the most effective. It is shown that the advantage of an ejector system is uniform drying of the product throughout the process, which weakly depends on the degree of loading of shelves. In addition, it is efficient for multishelf facilities of any reasonable size. A labyrinth system gives the possibility to increase one-time loading by up to 1.6 times with the same dimensions of the drying facility; its power usage efficiency is higher by 15–25%, depending on the type of the product. It is shown that the angle of attack of the air flow has an effect on the rate of drying in the convection mode. The rate of drying, depending on the angle of position of the sample with respect to the air flow, can by differ twofold or more.
