Abstract The seeds of Sida veronicifolia Linn., syn. S. bumilis cav., S. cordifolia Linn., S. ovata Forsk., S. mysorensis W & A., syn. S. urticaefolia W & A, S. rhombifolia var. retusa Masters and Abutilon crispum Medik. (Malvaceae) contained 15.5%, 11.5%, 12.1%, 13.2%, 20.2% and 12.5% oil, and 15.0%, 14.1%, 17.3%, 13.6%, 12.6% and 18.4% protein, respectively. Linoleic acid predominated (54.9–69.4%) as the fatty acid of all the oils, and malvalic (1.3–11.4%) and sterculic acids (0.4–1.1%) were significant.
