We describe a system for control and readout of scintillation conters, in the CDF Muon Upgrade for Run II, that use a miniature (low again) photomultiplier tube coupled to a high voltage generator. In the system, we mount on each counter an electronics module that amplifies counter signals, sets tube gain, discriminates signals, sets tube gain, discrimates signals with an adjustable threshold, and drives a light source. A 48 channel control unit distributes power, gain and thereshold settings, light source triggers, and receives counter signals on tristed pair cables, stretches and transmits the signals to remote time digitizers. Also, we describe a scintillation counter design that integrates the scintillator, filesn, and electronics modules into a sturdy packega.
