Annotatsiya

Tolerant (SG-l1 and DHG-84-11) and susceptible (Pusa-256 and Phule G-5) chickpea genotypes were subjected to varied levels of salt stress (0.0,4.0 and 8.0 dS/m) to investigate the biochemical basis of salt stress tolerance in 18-day-old seedlings. The seeds were germinated at different salinity levels and then transferred in sand culture maintaining the respective stress levels. Increase in salt stress resulted in comparatively more accumulation of sugars, starch, proline, phenols and lower portein content in tolerant genotypes.
