Annotatsiya
Magnetostriction and susceptibility measurements for transition metals and their alloys, and thermal expansion data for chromium, suggest a relatively strong volume dependence of the Stoner parameter. This feature is not evident in calculations in the local spin density approximation. However, explicit inclusion of electron correlations reduces the kinetic-energy cost of magnetic ordering and gives a substantial reduction of the effective Stoner parameter as volume increases.
