Renewable energy sources in Uzbekistan

Traditional (alternative or renewable) fuel and energy resources (TER) are the energy resources of rivers, reservoirs, and industrial drains, wind, solar, biomass, wastewater, and solid waste. The use of renewable energy sources in the Republic of Uzbekistan is relevant both for ensuring energy security and for improving the social and living conditions of the population. The main components of renewable energy in the country are solar energy, hydraulic, wind and geothermal energy, as well as biomass energy. The total technical potential of renewable energy in the Republic is 179.4 million tons of oil equivalent, which is more than three times the annual demand for energy resources.
