Nevertheless, many systematic relationships within the family remain unresolved and further research is needed into the complex biogeographic history and ecological roles of Lauraceae. A multifaceted approach integrating genomic studies, field work, morphological and ecological investigations is therefore needed to understand the evolution and diversity of this ecologically and economically significant plant family.
