Abstract The dynamic stability of a single-walled carbon nanotube embedded in a polymer matrix is investigated using the Euler-Bernoulli beam model. The nanotube conveys a pulsatile flow, where the fluid velocity is a harmonic function of time. The surrounding elastic medium (such as polymer) is modelled as a Winkler elastic foundation. The harmonic variation of the fluid velocity enables the application of Floquet theory for the dynamic stability analysis of the system.
