TEACHING RAILWAY ENGINEERING TERMINOLOGY IN ENGLISH AS A FACTOR IN PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE DEVELOPMENT

In the context of globalization and technological advancement, the professional competence of railway engineers increasingly depends on their ability to operate within international technical and scientific environments. English has become the primary language of engineering documentation, international standards, and professional communication in the railway industry. This article examines the role of teaching railway engineering terminology in English as a key factor in the development of professional competence. Drawing on principles from English for Specific Purposes (ESP), engineering education, and applied linguistics, the study analyzes how terminological knowledge supports technical understanding, professional communication, and career readiness. Using a qualitative theoretical approach, the paper proposes a pedagogical framework for integrating English railway terminology into engineering education. The findings indicate that systematic instruction in professional terminology enhances students’ technical literacy, communicative competence, and overall professional maturity.
