Strength and Ductility of Hybrid Steel and FRP Reinforced Concrete Sections Subjected to Combined Axial and Bending Regime
Annotatsiya
This folder contains the numerical data regarding the study of Hybrid Reinforced Concrete (HRC) Sections reinforced with Steel and Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) Bars. The uploaded materials include the derivation of N-M Interaction Diagrams and the analysis of Moment-Curvature relationships, focusing on the combined mechanical behavior of traditional steel and GFRP reinforcement at Ultimate Limit State (ULS). A comprehensive parametric analysis was conducted to evaluate the influence of varying the total hybrid mechanical reinforcement ratio ω_h and the hybridization parameter R, as well as the effects of different normalized axial force levels. The study quantifies the structural performance of these HRC sections through an assessment of sectional ductility and energy dissipation capacity, providing insights into their viability for resilient structures. The Moment-Curvature diagrams report design bending moment on the ordinate and nominal curvature on the abscissa. The material properties and design constraints were calculated following a dual regulatory framework: European Approach: Material characteristics were determined according to Eurocode 2 (for concrete and steel) and CNR-DT 203 R1/2026 (for FRP reinforcement). American Approach: Calculations were performed in accordance with ACI 318-25 and ACI 440.11-22 guidelines. This research was developed at the Polytechnic University of Turin in collaboration with Masera Engineering Group S.r.l.
