DISCOVERING NEW MATERIALS USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

This article analyzes the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in materials discovery and materials science. Traditionally a slow, decades-long process of trial and error, materials discovery is being transformed by machine learning and generative models that predict material properties, discover new compounds, and design materials with desired characteristics. The article examines applications in batteries, solar panels, and superconductors, demonstrating that AI is opening a new era of dramatically accelerated materials discovery, with recommendations for this direction's prospects.
