Abstract

The behavior of ferromagnetic resonance linewidth in single crystal gadolinium is studied over the temperature range 77–340 °K. The role of various line broadening mechanisms in this temperature interval is studied. It is shown that in imperfect crystals dislocations play a significant role in line broadening, and that dislocation broadening is well described by theory. X-ray structural analysis data are used to find the temperature dependence of the ferromagnetic relaxation constant.
