Abstract
A Heisenberg ferromagnet with an antiferromagnetic impurity with arbitrary values of the host and impurity spins is considered. A method is proposed for finding the ground state of such systems by using the apparatus of Jacobian matrices. Numerical computations are performed as an example for a ferromagnet with a simple cubic lattice and host spin S = 1/2, 1 and impurity spin S′ = 1. The ground state energy and wave function are found as functions of the system parameters.
