Abstract
A (Cu/Au + 0.03 at% Fe) thermocouple with a temperature gradient along the wire was placed in a magnetic field of up to 57 kOe at temperatures ranging from 2 to 31.2 °K. Within experimental accuracy, the magnetic field was found not to affect the magnitude of the thermal emf. The results of this study are interpreted in terms of concepts in the electron theory of metals.
