Abstract
The Fukuyama theory of conduction electron magnetism and the K·p model Hamiltonian are used to analyze the magnetic properties of Cd1−xMgx alloys. The experimental information on the effect of impurity scattering on the magnetic susceptibility was also used. By comparing quantitatively the experimental and theoretical value of the magnetic susceptibility we determined the parameters of the energy spectrum of pure cadmium crystals which agree well with the results of a direct calculation of the spectrum using the Stark–Auluck nonlocal pseudopotential. The effect of isovalent impurities (up to 12 at.% Mg) on the parameters of the spectrum is also determined.
