Abstract
Absorption of energy by a uniaxial antiferromagnet in an ac magnetic field parallel to the anisotropy axis is examined. It is shown that the power absorbed in slowly varying fields (ω ∼ 104-105 sec−1) can become quite large if the state is close to a second order phase transition. The results are compared with available experimental data.
