Abstract

A coherent pulse technique is used to study sound absorption and dissipative processes in 4He and in a 3He−4He solution containing 1.5 · 10−33He. It is shown that the temperature dependence of the sound absorption coefficient for 4He is described by a three-phonon process, and for the solution it is described by a viscous relaxation process and a new phonon–impurity relaxation process. The data obtained in the study indicate that the same anomalous dispersion of phonons as in 4He is preserved in the investigated solution.
