Abstract

One of the basic problems in interpreting geophysical data by multidimensional statistics methods and in particular a method of major components has been a problem to define a physical and geological sense and identity of the variables (factors) obtained in the process. We use an orthogonal linear transformation technique according to the method of major components (MMC) to process data from 2-D transient field sounding (TFS) with a fixed source. Relevance and high efficiency of this approach under special geological conditions of Western Uzbekistan are shown while handling particular problems like those of the prospecting and exploring. Performance is estimated and conditions are determined for the correct use of MMC in automated systems for geophysical data interpretation within the scope of the problems mentioned.
