Frequency dependencies of third optical harmonic generation efficiency in gaseous media under self-action conditions
Abstract
The frequency conversion efficiency is well known to be determined by the intensity and focusing level of the fundamental radiation as well as microscopic medium parameters. 1 Among the latest ones are linear susceptibilities responsible for phase mismatch, nonlinear susceptibilities responsible for generation process, and also Kerr nonlinearities responsible for nonlinear change of phase conditions of the process. The influence of Kerr nonlinearities can restrict the frequency conversion efficiency and can open up possibilities for short length generation according to the relation between linear and nonlinear phase mismatch effects. 2
